Audition Information

Are you interested in joining Prairie Fire Choir?

We’re gearing up to hold auditions on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 6–9pm at the Center for Performing Arts in Minneapolis.

Register for an audition via this sign-up form!

Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will close the form when all the slots fill or at 7pm on Sunday, January 28, whichever comes sooner. The audition will consist of a brief interview, range testing, and singing one of our songs in three-part harmony. (We’ll send you all the details once you sign up for a spot.)

Membership is open to any women (cis and trans), and femme and non-binary folk whose voices fall within these ranges. Please note that in early 2024, our choir will be undergoing a name change to Prairie Fire Choir. You can read more about the reasoning behind the change here.

What do I  need to prepare?

The audition will consist of three steps:
      1. A brief interview
     2. Sing “Floodplain Ballad” in trio
     3. Range testing and pitch matching
You will receive music and a practice track for Floodplain Ballad via email when you register.

The audition should take about one hour to complete. There will be friendly volunteers from the choir to guide you through the process.
